Join Us in the Fight Against Leprosy

Whether you’ve been a steadfast supporter of INF for years or have recently joined our cause, you will understand that the plight of those afflicted by leprosy is never far from our hearts. From the very inception of our mission, INF has specialised in providing holistic care and rehabilitation for people with leprosy has been our driving force.

Green Pastures Hospital then, and now

In 1957, INF staff on the ground erected Green Pastures Hospital, nestled about 7km outside of Pokhara town, in response to the profound stigma faced by those most in need. Since then, for 67 years, this haven has been a sanctuary where thousands have found treatment, healing, solace, and protection from the ravages of this ancient disease.

Just last month, we captured poignant moments of the vital work of our rehabilitation team. The unveiling of the new Green Pastures Leprosy Ward in 2024, christened the Eileen and Betty Centre, stands as a tribute to the indomitable spirit of two women who helped lay the hospital's foundation in the 1950s.

Alongside Green Pastures, Shining Hospital Banke and Surket stand as bastions of hope, offering frontline leprosy care and referring patients requiring complex therapies, reconstructive surgery, and occupational therapy to our main facility.

At INF, our clinical approach hinges on enabling people with leprosy to reclaim independence, dignity, and the freedom to embrace their God-given identities. We remain steadfast in our commitment to championing these individuals, advocating for their rights, and empowering them to lead fulfilling lives.

Yet, amidst our unwavering efforts lies a sobering reality: by the time most individuals receive a leprosy diagnosis, irreversible damage has already taken root in their bodies. But it doesn't have to be this way. Early diagnosis can lead to complete cure.

In 2024, our sights are set on a bold objective: to eradicate leprosy by 2035—a shared goal endorsed by leading health and aid organisations worldwide. How? Education is our most potent weapon. Equipping communities with knowledge about early detection, available treatments, and prevention measures can spare countless lives from the clutches of this disease.

With this vision in mind, INF is embarking on a new initiative—the "Zero-Leprosy" strategy. Our teams will venture into communities, providing crucial education, screening, and referral services. Currently, we are in the process of assembling a dedicated community outreach team to focus on the high-prevalence regions of Banke and Bardiya.

Our aspirations for a better future for people with  leprosy have always burned brightly.  Today, we redouble our efforts, driven by the belief that empowering individuals with life-saving knowledge can shield entire communities and future generations from the unnecessary hurt caused by the disease.

If you are able, we urge you to consider play an important role by funding an information session. Your contribution has the power to save lives and bring hope to countless families.

Join us in our quest to realise a world where leprosy is but a distant memory! Together, we can turn the tide against this ancient affliction.
